The plain-English version
- Cackle is for ages 13 and up.
- Dares are always optional. Nobody has to do anything.
- Be kind: report anything that crosses a line.
- Hosts can kick anyone, and a filter blocks slurs, explicit content, and personal info.
- If something is not okay, tell the host or email support@cackleparty.com.
- If you or someone you know needs help, call or text 988 (US). In an emergency, call 911.
1. Play kindly
Cackle is a party game. It is about the room, not about winning at anyone's expense.
- You can always pass. Nobody has to take a penalty or do a dare. If someone says no, that is the end of it.
- No pressure. Do not dare, goad, or shame anyone into doing something they do not want to do.
- Keep dares safe. Physical dares only if they are safe, nobody gets touched, nothing breakable is involved, and everyone stays in the room.
- Take breaks. Stretch, grab a snack, and step away whenever you like. If you feel unwell, stop.
- Look out for each other. If a friend seems upset or unwell, check in. If someone is in danger, get help right away.
2. Our 13+ policy
Cackle is for people 13 or older. We do not verify ID, so hosts and parents should keep an eye on what is being played and typed. If you are under 18, make sure a parent or guardian is OK with you using Cackle.
If we find out someone under 13 is using the Service, we may remove them and block access. Parents and guardians who have concerns can contact us at the address below.
3. Content rules
Everything players type or draw appears on the big screen and on other players' phones. These rules apply to everyone. Do not post:
- slurs, hate speech, or attacks on people for who they are;
- harassment, bullying, threats, or targeting someone in the room;
- sexually explicit content, or graphic violence;
- content that glorifies self-harm or drugs, or that is sexual;
- personal information, such as phone numbers, addresses, emails, or social handles, yours or anyone else's;
- spam, impersonation, or attempts to get around the filter.
A server-side filter checks names, answers, and other text for slurs, explicit content, and personal information, and may block or change what you enter. Filters make mistakes in both directions. If something slips through, tell the host or report it to us. If something harmless gets blocked, try rewording it. Our Terms explain what can happen if rules are broken.
The games are designed to roast the situation, not people's bodies, identities, or trauma. Be kind to the people you play with. A joke is only a joke if the person it is about is laughing too.
4. How to report a problem or remove a player
If you are the host
- Use the player list on your phone to kick (remove) anyone from the room. They will see "Removed from the room."
- You can leave the room or end the game at any time.
- You can create a new room if needed. Rooms also delete themselves after about 5 hours of inactivity.
If you are a player
- Tell the host, who can remove the person.
- You can leave a room at any time by closing the page.
Report to us
Email support@cackleparty.com. Please include the room code, roughly when it happened, and what you saw. Room content is deleted after the room expires, so reporting quickly helps us look into it. We aim to respond promptly and may remove content, remove people, or block access. If someone is in danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number) first.
5. Help resources
Cackle is not a medical or crisis service. If you or someone you care about needs support, these free services in the United States are available:
