Party games to play on a TV with friends
Your TV is the board. Your phones are the controllers.
You can play party games on any TV without a console: open cackleparty.com on a laptop plugged into the TV (or on the TV’s own browser at cackleparty.com/tv), and everyone uses their phone as the controller by scanning the QR code. It is free, and players install nothing.
Four ways to get Cackle on your TV
1. Laptop + HDMI (most reliable)
Plug the laptop into the TV, open cackleparty.com, tap “Host on this screen” and press F for full screen. Sound plays through the TV.
2. Smart TV or Xbox browser
Open the web browser on a Samsung, LG, Sony or Fire TV, or Microsoft Edge on Xbox, and go to cackleparty.com/tv. The room opens by itself, and the remote’s arrow keys and OK button work every menu. You can also turn a phone into the remote from the lobby.
3. AirPlay
On a Mac, AirPlay to the Apple TV and use it as a separate display. From an iPad or a spare phone, use screen mirroring. Keep that device for the TV and play from your own phone.
4. Chromecast mirroring
Cast a Chrome tab or your whole screen from a laptop to a Chromecast or Google TV, with cackleparty.com open on it.
Coming soon: a Cast button that sends the game straight to the TV, and a Fire TV and Android TV app.
Which games look best on a big screen
- Rough Draft: every stroke someone draws on their phone appears live on the TV.
- Pick a Side: two bars fill up and the room finds out who is in the minority.
- The Lineup: vote bars rise and a WOMP stamp lands on whoever the room picked.
- Chaos Deck: cards are dealt on the TV and house rules stay on the wall.
Quick fixes
- No sound? Smart TV browsers often need one button press before they can play audio.
- Text too small? Use full screen (press F on a laptop), or zoom the browser.
- Someone dropped out? They open the same link again and get their seat back.
- No TV at all? A laptop on the table works fine for a small group.
